Bass Pro Opens Doors To Pyramid
Bass Pro Shops finally opened its superstore inside the Memphis Pyramid. The hype and anticipation has been brewing for 10 years. At 32 stories tall, the landmark structure has been transformed from an empty public relic into an outdoorsman’s “indoor” paradise.
In addition to all the products that customers expect from a Bass Pro store, the pyramid superstore includes a man-made cypress swamp with a live alligator, large archery and shooting ranges, a Ducks Unlimited waterfowl museum, stocked aquariums, and a bowling alley. There is also an observation deck at the apex of the pyramid, in addition to a 100-plus room hotel. The pyramid’s most unique element may be the 28-story glassed elevator. It is reported to currently hold the title of the tallest freestanding elevator in America.
